Ok, im sure ALOT of modders say "you CAN'T mod halo 1 for the xbox", well thats obviously cause those people have down syndrome. But you can mod halo 1 on the xbox360, and im gonna tell you how.
HERE IS A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF ME PLAYING SOME HALO 1 MODS ON THE XBOX.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Transfer cable or Xsata (i myself have only done it with a transfer cable)
- Another controller (only if you want to mod a multiplayer map)
1. On your xbox, go to Memory and press Y on your hard drive and go to Clear System Cache.
2. Boot up Halo 1
3. Now, if you want to mod a single player mission, choose one on any difficulty and then save and quit. If you want to mod another mission then choose another one and do the same thing. You can only have a maximum of 2 modded single player missions at a time.
Now, if you want to mod a multiplayer map then in the main menu go to Multiplayer and go to Split Screen and sign in another controller, then choose any map, then choose your gametype and start it up. After that leave the game. If you want to mod another multiplayer map then do the same thing. You can only have a max of 3 modded multiplayer maps at a time.
4. Turn off your xbox and unplug your hard drive and hook it up to the transfer cable (or xsata) and plug it into the computer.
5. Open your device up in modio (or whatever you use to extract or inject your files, but im gonna be using modio).
6. Now, this is what you should see...
7. You should see 3 folders under Partition 0, click on Xbox0 and you should see a whole list of cache files.
8. Now, cache000 and cache001 are both single player missions, if you played 1 single player mission to mod then it will be cache000, if you played 2 single player missions that you wanted to mod then it will be cache000 and cache001 (if you don't know which mission is which, it should show the time you played it next to the file.)
Cache002 is just the UI, you can choose to mod it if you want
Now, cache003, cache004 and cache005 are the multiplayer maps you played. Lets say for an example you played 1 map and that was the only one you wanted to mod, it will be cache003, if you played 2 multiplayer maps that you chose you wanted to mod, it will be cache003 and cache004. And if you played on 3 then it will be cache003,004 and 005. (remember, if you don't remember which map is which, look at the time you played it.)
9. Now, extract the cache file(s).
10. Now heres the fun part! MODDING IT . Now, believe it or not, but you can use the same tools thats used to mod halo for the pc to mod the map files for xbox. Halo Map Tools, Halo Hacker Tools, Spark Edit, Eschaton and pretty much all of them.
11. Once you finished modding the file, you don't have to resign it. Just make sure you hit Save in whatever modding tool your using and close it.
12. Import it back into your hard drive and plug it back into your xbox. Turn it on, and boot up halo 1. If you modded a single player mission then just choose that mission, choose the difficulty and it should load!
If its a multiplayer map then just go to split screen and turn on the other controller and choose the map you modded, gametype and then it should load the modded map!
There you go!! thats how you mod halo 1 for xbox360!! NOTE: if you choose other single player missions/multiplayer maps besides the modded ones then it will overwrite the modded maps/missions.
